The practical test
Are these the official test routes?
No. The practical test routes aren't published. Ours start from your test centre and go through what makes people fail: roundabouts, priority to the right, junctions, level crossings, motorway slip roads. On the day of your test, the neighbourhood is no longer new to you.
Which centres are covered?
The current list is on the Centres page. We add more as their routes are ready.
Can I drive alone with the app?
The app doesn't change the rules: with a provisional licence, the conditions that apply to you stay the same (accompanying driver, L plate…). PermisRoute guides you, but it doesn't replace your accompanying driver or instructor.
The app
What's the difference between Instructor and Examiner mode?
In Instructor mode, the app helps you as it would in a lesson (the speed limit is on screen). In Examiner mode, it stays quiet about everything the examiner won't tell you either: you only get the direction.
Does it work with CarPlay and Android Auto?
CarPlay: yes, right now on iPhone. Plug in your phone and the guidance appears on the car's screen. Android Auto is coming very soon, with the Google Play version.
Which phones?
iPhone, available now on the App Store. Android: the Google Play version is coming very soon.
Subscription and payment
Is it free?
The download is free. In every centre, one route unlocks for good by watching two short videos, and you get 2 “Around me” routes when you install, then one a day for watching a video. For more routes, packs start at €13.99 a month.
How do I cancel my subscription?
From the subscription settings of the App Store or Google Play, at any time. It stays active until the end of the paid period.
What about my data?
Your roadbook stays on your phone. The details are in our privacy policy.
